Biography

darius_rucker_bioKnown to many as the frontman of legendary South Carolina rockers Hootie & The Blowfish, Darius Rucker began his musical journey back in 1986. He led the group as its primary creative and driving force, scoring major popularity with their 1994 debut release “Cracked Rear View.”

The album sold over 16 million units in the States alone, and scored the lads a No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Ultimately, the group sold over 21 million units in the US with their five studio albums, and went to semi-active stage in 2008.

This is when Mr. Rucker decided to focus on solo activity, driving into the realm of country driven music. He released his first solo album “Back to Then” in 2002, but only decided to focus on solo work full-time around 2008, when he released his first country effort ever, “Learn to Live.”

A period of constant touring and studio activity was quick to follow, resulting in memorable worldwide concert treks and three more solo releases – 2010’s “Charleston, SC 1966,” 2013’s “True Believers,” and 2015’s “Southern Style.”

Hit singles like “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It,” “Homegrown Honey,” “Wagon Wheel” and many more have managed to find their way to the listeners’ hearts and establish Darius as a country force not to be reckoned with.

Throughout his career, Rucker was praised by fans and critics for his songwriting skills, but also for stellar musicianship, which made his live gigs – whether it’s Hootie & The Blowfish or solo concerts we’re talking about – a night to remember. Additionally, he was always supported by the best live musicians on the global musical scene.

With 15 new songs, including the “Homegrown Honey” lead single, Darius’ latest studio album was released on March 21, 2015 under the title of “Southern Style.”
