Dave Grohl Sends VIP Foo Fighters Tickets to a Dying Fan

Dave GrohlFoo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl once again demonstrated his awesomeness by reaching out to a guy named Ken Powell, a big fan of the Foos who was diagnosed with melanoma about 14 years ago.

In 2009, Ken’s illness was classified as terminal, leaving him with only a brief period of time to live. His great desire was to see the Foos live in concert and his wish was granted as his friend who works as an air attendant stumbled upon none other than Mr. Grohl and told Dave his friend’s story.

The musician reacted by sending Ken a personalized note saying “Hi Ken,” (shown below) as well as a pair of VIP tickets to see the group live in Los Angeles next September.

Powell is currently working on gathering funds to pay a trip to the States. He set up a Go Fund Me page with a $20,000 (£13,000) goal that was reached within 10 days, only to raise the bar to $30,000 and send the remaining money to Melanoma Institute Australia that supported him for nearly a decade.

The Foos are currently rocking the world on their massively successful worldwide tour. Make sure to catch them live on one of the stops; a list of upcoming dates and ticket info are available here.
