James Bay is a young UK singer-songwriter who exploded on the music scene with his 2014 single “Hold Back the River.” Born in 1990, James began his musical journey in 2013, presenting his debut EP release “The Dark of the Morning” in July 2013 via Universal Music.
This indie folk pop musician struck gold with his sophomore EP release “Let It Go” in May 2014, as the effort’s title track went on to score a double platinum sales certificate in Australia, establishing Bay as one of today’s top performers.
The success was doubled with the musician’s follow-up EP, “Hold Back the River” which saw its release on November 21, 2014. Marking Bay’s debut on the US charts, the EP’s title track reached No. 2 on UK charts, and even toped the charts in Ireland.
Finally, the time had come for James to release his full-length debut, which saw its release on March 23, 2015 via Republic Records under the title of “Chaos and the Calm.”
Delivering the musician’s signature blend of folk, rock, indie and pop music, the album went straight up to No. 1 on the Official Albums Chart in the UK, also reaching a very solid No. 15 spot on the US Billboard 200 album chart.
A string of tightly packed tour dates was quick to follow and reach climax in June 2015 as Bay performed on the legendary Pyramid Stage at 2015 edition of Glastonbury Festival in the UK.
This singer’s fan base keeps increasing at a very fast pace, and many critics and music aficionados agree that James is the hot young artist to look after. Speaking of which, the current year saw Bay winning the “Critics’ Choice” award at this year’s edition of the prestigious Brit Awards. A lengthy string of concert dates has already been booked for the rest of 2015, and the first part of 2016.
