Hailed as a blues guitar prodigy, Mr. Joe Bonamassa began his musical journey way back in the ’80s. At the fragile age of 12, he had a privilege to open for the one and only B.B. King, and he destiny to reach the heights of blues royalty has already been sealed.
By the time he got to release his debut full-length studio album, 2000’s “A New Day Yesterday,” Joe was an established tour de force of blues, but the new level was yet to come.
Bonamassa’s work can be described as constant touring and tightly packed album releases. He is the kind of artist that managed to take something as sonically worn out as the classic brand of blues rock and spice it up with unique style and approach.
Throughout the years, Joe earned himself a reputation of a fantastic live player whose mastery truly shines only during live performances. During his career, this guitar champion got to share stage with such musical titans as Eric Clapton, Stephen Stills, Buddy Guy, Steve Winwood, Warren Haynes, Foreigner, Derek Trucks, and many more.
He released a total of 11 studio albums and 11 live records, which further supports the theory of Joe’s live show supremacy. His latest studio effort, 2014’s “Different Shades of Blue,” managed to peak at No. 8 on the US Billboard Chart, while each and every record in his opus has successfully climbed to No. 1 spot of the Billboard Blues Chart.
Bonamassa is still frantically touring the world, and will always be remembered for his blistering Royal Albert Hall gigs. To give something back to the community, Joe has launched Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation to educate the young ones about the power of music. Finally, one of his career highlights includes a Grammy Award nomination for the Best Blues Album in 2013.
