Chicago rockers Rise Against will be marking this year’s Record Store Day by unveiling a special seven-inch vinyl release featuring “The Eco Terrorist in Me,” track, as well as a previously unreleased song “About Damn Time.”
The record will also feature a spoken word collaboration with Will Potter, an author who has inspired the vinyl release’s title with his book “Green Is the New Red.”
Lead singer Tim McIlrath noted on this occasion that the author’s spoken word contribution “We Will Never Forget” delves deep into the matter of “fight for animal welfare and increased transparency in the shadowy world of factory farms.”
Additionally, the single’s cover features work from Mercy For Animals’ Bettencourt Dairies undercover video, making the given message even stronger and more prominent.
The full quote from Mr. Potter reads as follows, courtesy of Look to the Stars: “If factory farms get their way, you’ll never be able to see photographs like the cover of this Rise Against record. Seven states have already passed new ‘ag-gag’ laws that make it illegal to photograph animal cruelty without the farm’s approval, and more states are considering these bills right now. But this is just one part of a much broader campaign by these corporations and the FBI to label non-violent protesters as ‘eco-terrorists.’ Rise Against has always used their platform to shine a light on injustice, and I was thrilled to work with them on this project; treating whistleblowers and activists as ‘terrorists’ puts all of our freedoms at risk.”
Record Store Day is set to take place on April 18, make sure to visit the official site, RecordStoreDay.com, for more details.
