The effort comes as a tribute to the band’s late original guitarist Jeff Hanneman, who unexpectedly passed away in May 2013. It will also be their first effort after the split with original drummer Dave Lombardo two years ago.
The album was already announced with “Implode” and “When the Stillness Comes” singles. Additional titles include “Vices,” “Take Control” and “Cast the First Stone,” with a total of 12 tracks on the follow-up to 2009’s “World Painted Blood.”
In the words of guitarist Kerry King, the album’s title track is a tribute to Jeff, with the axeman saying that he prefers calling it “Hannemanthem.”
A major tour will follow, of course. Slayer are known for crushing live shows and the fans will be very pleased to hear that an extensive set of US dates has already been announced for June, July, and August.
The band will then rock the Motorhead Motorboat cruise, only to hit Europe with an undisclosed number of gigs. Click here to check out the upcoming Slayer tour dates and additional ticket info.
